An elegant wedding in Low Wood Bay, Windermere
If you’re after some Lake Windermere wedding photography, you’re in for a real treat! Patrick and Lauren’s wedding in Low Wood Bay was everything a Windermere wedding could be.
The people, the weather, the waterfront venue, the elegant styling. And all of it on the breathtaking shores of Lake Windermere. There was even a black Lab in a bowtie (Henry, in case you’re taking names!)
But more than anything P&L’s day was all about two families- and two cultures- coming together. Filled with a loved-up, happy energy that had us buzzing from the moment we arrived, to well-after we got home!
If you’ve been dreaming of getting married on Lake Windermere, come take a look. This really was a beauty of a day…
Low Wood Bay Resort and Spa is- as the name suggests- a spa!
And you know what that means?
It’s sooooo relaxing!
Honestly, what a blissful place to have your wedding day! Super-comfy rooms, elegant, modern furnishings, efficient (yet ever-serene!) service. And whenever you look out the window, or step outside, you’re treated to stunning views across the lake.
As a wedding venue, it would be great anywhere. But on the shores of Lake Windermere, it’s truly breathtaking.
Elegant styling inspiration for a wedding on Lake Windermere
We began our day in the wonderfully comfy rooms of Low Wood Bay Resort. Flawless spring sunshine poured through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows. And outside, boats bobbed, and the deep-blue water glittered in the sun.
*Contented sigh* Don’t you just love a wedding on Lake Windermere?!
Lauren looked stunning in her gorgeous dress from the Bridal Collection in Lancaster. Her makeup was elegant, and natural. Her spring bouquet, beautiful; roses and freesia in white and blue. And to complete the look, a delicate pearl and diamond headpiece in her relaxed low bun.
A few doors down, Patrick was getting ready with his boys. The effortlessly-suave suits were on; Macallan 12 waiting patiently on the side. And in a subtle touch of elegance, the blue and white palette accented in their buttonholes, and ties.
Down the hall, a champagne cork *popped*. And with a glance at his watch, Patrick headed downstairs to marry the love of his life.
The ceremony space in Low Wood Bay Resort
There aren’t many ceremony spaces in the UK as beautiful as the one in Low Wood Bay.
The iconic pillars lining the aisle, impeccable light, glittering chandeliers, and high-vaulted ceilings. And the jewel in the crown…along one side, floor-to-ceiling windows, with uninterrupted views across Lake Windermere.
And we loved that L&P had taken the space and made it theirs. At the entrance, there were Polaroids from every one of their holidays (“Our adventures”). They had a ‘memory’ table, for all their loved ones who couldn’t be there. And behind the altar, a spectacular floral arch.
The ceremony was heartfelt, and intimate, with a ton of laughter and more than a few happy tears! They had a mixing of the sands ceremony (a new trend, which we LOVE!)
And when the celebrant had made it official, they headed out into the spring sunshine to a blizzard of blue and white confetti.
When you picture a wedding in Lake Windermere…
When you picture a wedding in Lake Windermere, this is how you imagine it. Fluffy white clouds in a clear blue sky. A champagne reception; sweeping lawns and views of the lake. Perfect!
P&L had an emotional reunion with their fur baby, Henry! And while the guests were enjoying the drinks and the views, we headed down to the Low Wood Bay’s private jetty.
And oh my, what a place to have your couple’s portraits! The quiet little jetty. Nothing but the two of you; kisses, cuddles, and newly-ringed fingers. The sound of the water lapping up against the dock. Your guests chatting and laughing in the distance.
As Lake District wedding photographers, we may be a little biassed! But there are few places in the world more romantic than the shores of Lake Windermere.
This is your sign to have a casino reception!
Meanwhile, inside the hotel, the Patrick and Lauren Casino was in full swing!
The champagne and cocktails flowed. There were blackjack, and roulette tables. They had P&L Dollars to play with (which meant the kids could join in too). It was so cool, and such a fun wedding activity.
And the reception dinner brought all the same energy, and more!
We had live music from Alex Birtwell, and Patrick and his boys got up and did a song. And we had speeches from both of the mothers too, which is such a nice idea (why don’t we always do that?!)
The wine was cold, the food was tasty. And as the sun began to set, we grabbed P&L for a little Lake Windermere wedding adventure.
Wedding photography on the hills above Windermere
It had been raining the day before, and the ground was super muddy. But (being the Windermere wedding photography pros that we are!) we weren’t going to let a little mud stop us!
So we jumped in the Defender and took Patrick and Lauren up the hill ourselves.
And oh wow, the views! The water, still and sleepy. The mountains silhouetted against a dove-grey sky. It was blissfully quiet.
And there, high on the hills above Lake Windermere, Patrick and Lauren had their first dance.

The rest of the evening was a blur of P&L dollars, dancing and champagne!
They had a sax player bringing ALL the energy to the dance floor! And as night well and truly fell, we found Patrick sharing a celebratory cigar outside with his best man.
This was one of those weddings we could do again and again, every weekend if we could! If you’re having a wedding in Lake Windermere and you love our work, we’d be so excited to hear from you. Get in touch today and let’s see if we’re a good fit.
