6 reasons to have your wedding in Prestwold Hall

A dreamy country house wedding venue in Leicestershire

Katie and Joe told us having their wedding in Prestwold Hall was “the best decision they made. Not a single regret.” (Of course, what they *meant* to say was ‘it was the second best decision, after choosing us as their wedding photographers!)

We went to Prestwold Hall for Katie and Joe’s wedding in October. And we were absolutely blown away by the place.

Nestled in the idyllic Leicestershire Wolds, it’s everything you’d want a country house wedding venue to be. Sophisticated, luxurious, scenic, immaculately-kept. And of course- endlessly photogenic. If you’re looking for a country house wedding venue in Leicestershire, you have officially found it!

Here’s 6 reasons why you should have your wedding in Prestwold Hall…

1. It’s the perfect wedding venue for outdoorsy couples

Prestwold Hall is the perfect venue if you’re after a bit of the outdoors, with a whole heap of elegance to go with it!

With its own private parkland stretching 2500 acres (yep, you read that right!), it gives you that blissful feeling of being right in the countryside.

Look out of any-and-every window, and you’ll see horses, trees, fields, gardens, and hedgerows as far as the eye can see. And if the weather’s right, you can spend your whole day exploring the grounds (think: stunning couples shots!) lapping up the views, and breathing in that fresh, fresh air!

If you’re an outdoorsy couple, Prestwold Hall is simply glorious!

2. You get the full ‘country house wedding’ experience in Prestwold Hall

Prestwold Hall wedding venue is only available for exclusive hire. No sneak-a-peek general public. And no ‘other wedding’ to share the place with.

You get a Grade I listed country house- and all 2500 acres, all to yourselves for the day.

And it makes for such an incredible experience. You crunch your way down the stately gravel driveway, and up to the honey-hued house. You pass through those iconic stone columns, and- with a little flurry of excitement- open those huge front doors.

And as you step inside the house, it’s just as impressive.

Open fires, winding staircases and antique art; period pieces and hardwood floors. It feels cosy, homely. But with a romantic, swoon-worthy, *deep sigh* elegance you only get in a country home.

3. You have everything all in one place (they even have their own church!)

Having every aspect of your day- prep, ceremony and reception- all in one place is a wedding day gamechanger!

And when you have your wedding in Prestwold Hall, every aspect is exceptional.

The getting ready rooms- with their stunning countryside views, chestnut wardrobes, marble mantels, and oh-so-comfy beds. The huge windows, flooding the room with photo-perfect light. And the views! Oh the views! It’s a truly dreamy place to start your wedding day.

Then there’s the multiple gorgeous ceremony spaces (which we’ll get to in a minute!) The endless photo opps, inside and out. The spectacular dining hall for your reception.

And when it’s all over, the house has 10 luxurious rooms for you and your nearest and dearest to stumble into!

No buses, taxis, or Airbnb. Just you, your guests, and your bougie country house.

4. The ceremony spaces are simply stunning (in any weather!)

For a lot of couples having a summer wedding in Prestwold Hall, an idyllic outdoor ceremony in the gardens would be their first choice.

But (British weather being what it is!) an outdoor ceremony isn’t always on the cards! The good news is, Prestwold Hall’s indoor ceremony options are just as- if not more- beautiful.

The venue has its own Grade II listed mediaeval church! And inside the house, the beautiful library.

And this is where Katie and Joe said their vows.

Katie had a harpist playing her down the aisle (somehow just *the perfect* instrument for the space!) And as the celebrant made it official, they headed back down the aisle as husband and wife.

Straight out of the library doors, to a flurry of confetti, and stunning views across the grounds.

5. “Prestwold Hall has been a venue for lively parties for centuries”

After Katie and Joe’s ceremony, we had a gorgeous drinks reception on the terrace outside. And honestly, when you dream of having a country house wedding, this is just how you imagine it!

Drinks and nibbles with your guests. The views across the grounds; the distant trees, horses dotting the lush green fields. And again- you have the place all to yourselves! It feels like you’ve won the lottery!

Head inside for your reception, and the lottery dream continues. The dining room seats 60 for an intimate meal, sat beneath panelled ceilings and glittering chandeliers.

And as night falls and the party kicks off, the library transforms into a little mini-nightclub!

Oh, and don’t let the plush furnishings fool you! Katie and Joe had an incredible band for their evening reception, and the dancefloor was electric. So we know from first hand experience…

A wedding in Prestwold Hall can go crazy!!

6. Prestwold Hall is a wedding photographer’s dream

As a photo and film duo, we pride ourselves in making the best of any venue.

And honestly, with Prestwold Hall we were spoilt for choice! We were outside, having drinks on the terrace. And all we had to do was grab the guys, and within seconds we were getting some awesome wedding party shots on the lawn.

We went for a stroll around the grounds with Katie and Joe for their couple’s portraits. And within minutes, we’d found pristine gardens, epic stone pillars, and secluded alcoves. And of course, that iconic orangery. Filled with exotic plants, stunning colours and flawless light.

And finally, as darkness fell and the party raged, we headed out into the quiet night. Just us, Katie and Joe, and some seriously cool spotlights!

Prestwold Hall is a wedding photographer’s dream- wherever you point your camera, there’s beauty in the lens.
